He became a Councillor of the Realm (Riksråd) and a Governor General.</p><p><p>Erik married the daughter of a German Dukewho gave him a daughter, Beata. By his mistress, Anna Kern, he recognized a son, Gustaf (Gustav) Eriksson Örnevinge.</p><p><p>The ruins of Visingsborg Castle, Greve Erik's home on Visingso Island on Lake Vattern, are only 30 miles from Skovde, Vastergotland, the home of his descendants who emigrated to America 300 years later.</p><p><p></p></p><p><p>Three of Greve Erik's noble ancestors were murdered in the Stockholm Bloodbath of 1520.</p><p>-(This Erik Brahe is not to be confused with the Erik Brahe who was executed "judicially murdered" outside Riddarholm Church in 1756 by backers of Parliament in a struggle between KingAdolf Fredrik and the Swedish Parliament.)
